Jay Herbig is a Senior Unix Systems Engineer who has been working in the Information Technology Industry since 1992. Prior to that he was a Russian Linguist in the United States Air Force who always ended up doing ad hoc computer work. On his last tour he ended up doing Systems Administration work rather than linguistics and this became the foundation for his IT Career. He has worked within both the Government and the Commercial sectors, and is currently working for the Hammers Group supporting the USGS Landsat 8 environment. He is also part of the design and build of the infrastructure for the upcoming USGS Landsat 9.
